i have a 99 3.0 elite estate (mini facelift) in which the previous owner swapped the spare for an alloy that does match the others, and is also too big for the hole and the lid does not shut,
please can someone advise what size the spare should be as all i can find are 15 inch steel wheels
-
I think they are 205/65/15 from memory, some may be 195
-
I am pretty sure that all omega spares are 15" rims. with either 205x65 or 195x65 tyre
:y
-
silly question i know but 15",s with 16 " alloys as standard ?

Yes mate the tyre size makes up for the difference.

I have 17" wheels with a 15" spare..its correct dont worry
-
cheers all i did not want to buy a 15" and it not fit over the caliper , im running 18"s at the moment as they were cheaper than buying tyres lol

?? So if you have to use the spare, you're running 3 wheels/tyres of one size and one of another?? Shurely shome mishtake.
But if that's correct and acceptable (with no warning like you get on space-saver tyres) then why do people take so much care about getting exactly matching tyre sizes, profility (is there such a word - there is now), makes and even tread patterns.
Without getting off my back-side and going to get my manual, I'm sure it doesn't mention to owners not to worry when they discover that there spare looks wrong.

there [/b]spare looks wrong.
Sorry ... I can't believe I just wrote that instead of their - I think I've beenreading too many blogs on tinterweb and it's addled my brain. Either that or I've got old-timers disease.

Remember the spare is a get me home...ALL omegas are like that if you had a 16 or 17 inch spare it would not fit in the well........the tyre size makes up for the difference in size.check your manual. it states 15" spare........... :y :y :y :y

The spare is for emergency use. Some later cars have 50mph stickers on the rim. Obviously you'd be a bit of a pillock to drive it at 100% with the spare on.

Really :o ;)
-
A 225 will very nearly fit, a 205, as MM suggests above, should fit fine.
-
Well dang me sideways :o
I really should have got offf my back-side before posting, shouldn't I!
I can now admit that my spare is a 15" but I thought I'd just been shafted by the guy who sold it to me 'cos it was all he could find at a scrap yard, having lost/damaged the proper spare.
Yet again, I bow to the superior knowledge of you guys. I wonder if there are any other cars out there like this??? (apart from those with a proper 'space-saver', obviously).
