**Found the missing bolt, just need the camcover bolt torque values now as there not in the torque value thread (posted link to it below)**
:):)
Just doing the camcover/coil pack/aircon radiator on the omega...
Took the inlet off, and lost a bolt which was between 3 and 5 from the injector rail... Took the bottom inlet off, and still can't find it! It's not fallen down any of the inlets, not on the oil cooler plate, and not on the floor...
Anywhere else it might of buggered off to?? Or will I just have to face it and go get a new bolt from VX, if so, anyone with EPC have the P/N??
-
I have tons of bolts just taken off the 98 3.0 elite...including the injector rail...can send you one of those, or a few if you want??
-
cheers for the offer, but need the car on the road tomorrow night so vx i think is the only choice if i cant find it...
plus some rags to clean the laptop keyboard lol
-
Also, does anyone have the torque values for the camcovers??
The torque values thread doesn't contain them...

unless im reading it wrong

No worries mate :)

Did you block the inlet holes up with rag,if you didn't I would strongly advise you get a magnet small enough to go down the inlet holes tied to a length of string or magnetic screwdriver and make absolutely sure the bolt hasn't gone down one of them.

I checked the inlet, and there is no way a bolt would fit down by where the valve is open. Its only open by about 4mm or so at most. Bolt would need alot more to get in.

Ok then if you have got a magnet try running it over the engine inc the gearbox also run it along the chassis rails. Obviously it's gotta be there somewhere as they say. Have you taken the undertray down and had a look.
-
Car is up on axle stands for better access to the rear (tall guy can't so with constantly bending over lol)
I'll be taking the undertray off later to clean all the sand off it anyways, so will check that then.

Ok mate good luck with your search.
-
I'd be really worried where that had gone .... they always end up somewhere nasty for me... :(

If you are talking about the 8 cam cover bolts per side they have to be tightened to 8nm mate :y
-
bugger my draper only goes down to 10 :-/
-
Close enough.....
-
Done cheers :y
One of the inlet flange to head bolts pulled the thread tho, so only tightens to hand tight... but seems to be ok for now (will get it hellicoiled or something at some point)
Idling is now spot on, no more missing or the odd judder. Also pulls smoothly through the rev range and not hesitating at 2.5k to 4k rpm :)
Also used some of the sealant on the whole gasket of the cam cover, and noticed a nodge on the head around the back where its been leaking (looked like some crap from quite some time ago as it was truly burnt to the head), so maybe at some point in its life it had the wrong gasket stuff on it?? Did the breathers too while I was at it, although they seemed spotless!
All in, quite chuffed with myself :) Didn't even have any spare bolts left over which is a first for me ;D
Although I didn't do the A/C rad... think I may actually leave that for a proper A/C specialist and use a new condenser as well, I duno if the one I have is actually any good till I get it tested!
One thing I found tho...
There is a random hose, not connected to anything... by the drivers headlight! Its about 5mm inside diameter, and I cant see where its routing to... I know its not the gearbox breather, as thats behind the plenum at the rear, so wondering... Anyone have any clue as to what this might be??
