Hello,

I would like to thank Bruce (hotel 21) for traveling through today and fitting my irmscher lowered springs.
Just aswell as the rear drivers side spring was broke, picture's below:

Good job :y. If you fit shorter springs do you have to adjust suspension geometry?

Well done guys :y

The rears are prone to corroding and losing bottom couple of turns.  I didn't notice until I threw it in to long right hand sweeper at silly speeds  :-[

The old springs :), though I suspect the Irmschers' will go in same place after 8 or 9 years...

Good job... how long did it take in total? Should improve the handling no end, standard MV6 stuff is way too soft for a "sports" model.

Jim did you get my PM?

Cheers mate :y

3 hours isn't too bad... it's not a job I'll be doing myself that's for sure, but I do know a few guys who might be able to do it at a reasonable rate, one of whom has a lift. I'm wondering whether I should replace the front dampers while I'm at it, there's nothing to suggest they're worn or leaking, there's virtually no bounce. But I don't know how old they are. Rears were replaced a few months ago after one suddenly gave up with no prior warning, resulting in some very dodgy handling!

If you're having the struts apart, it makes sense to do dampers, seeing as you will need geometry reset after.

I know your rears are fairly new, but if you want a firmer ride, put some stiffer shocks on as well?

Is there anyone recommended in in the central belt who does full geometry checks? Mine seems to be okay in that the handling is okay and there is no significant tyre wear but I am a bit wary that both sides were okay just by pulling the strut adjustments over to the limit. The family are still based around Lanark so I could possibly work a check into one of the trips down to visit, just for peace of mind.

Cheers,

Steve

The only one I have used personally was in Dunfermline upon recommendation from another user but, to be honest, they did not impress me.....  :-/    I later had cause to be down south and went to Wheels in Motion in Hemel Hempstead who set the car up again and afterwards driving was like night and day.  I have heard that, surprisingly, one of the KwikFit branches in Edinburgh has the only full geometry kit in the group in the UK but again, unknown if they also have the expertise to use it.

To answer your question then, sadly, no I don't .....

Thanks Bruce. I'll start looking again if any problems start to show.
