its in different places on different engines,if you say which engine your car has it will make it easier to help :y

Its bolted on the side of the Intake butterfly housing, the bit after all the Rubber Intake Hoses. Rip it off, I think there star or torx bolts and give a good clean with Carb or Switch cleaner, may as well spray the MAf sensor while your there.
Might take a while to settle down once you've filled it with cleaner but should run sweet and spot on after.
As Boy says check beather pipes and clean.
If your not happy to do this yourself, I would have thought local Garage to clean ICV 25 - 35 quid.

Mines doing the same, all the aboves been done but to no avail. I think its in need of gearbox oil. I'll keep everyone posted as to how it goes.
My tip is to whack it in neutral when you're under about 15mph then back in drive a few secs befor its time to set off again, its a lot less embarrassing! ;D
Whilst I'm here - how much do you reckon an honest garage would charge for a thrust washer replacement (the last resort for my problems after gear oil)?

Yep, it was low on gearbox oil. So easy to fix it was untrue.
See the guide in the maintenance section, its worded a little scary for a beginner like myself, so here it is in laymans terms.
Get it on a ramp, take out the bolt (plug) on the drivers side of the gearbox sump, top it up til oil trickles out, turn it over, top it up again til it trickles out again, replace bolt. Leave running for a bit, then be less embarrassed to stop at the lights ;D
And here's my solving post:
