Title: Miggy stalls under firm braking
Post by: timoleon8 on 27 March 2008, 21:02:34
Hi, I nearly smacked into another car this morning. Started to turn into a junction near work, the engine stalled and had to pull really hard on the steering wheel just to get around the corner.

I've had the car since nov'07, was on a garage forecourt for 6 MONTHS beforehand. Dealer said the fuel tank was sludgy, i keep having to put fuel cleaner in each time i fill her up, to stop it stalling. The car does have a bit of an idling problem(its a 2.0l auto P reg).

Any suggestions would be alot of help, cheers. :)

Someone will hopefully correct me if I'm wrong, but I would think about replacing the fuel filter, and get the sludge out (before fitting new fuel filter ;))

Sounds like the breathers need a good clean to start with. if you look in the mainenance guides there is a how 2 guide.

good luck :)

With 2.0, start by cleaning icv, throttle body, and breathers, and also replace fuel filter.
