I noticed a blown fuse in the compartment above the battery (2.5TD) it is yellow and rated at 25A
After some searching around I'm pretty sure it is for the intercooler fan.
Daft question I guess but can anyone please tell me where the actual fan is ? I know where the intercooler is and have had a good look for the fan but to no avail. Thanks

Behind the front grill :-/

Its mounted on the front of the intercooler in the bottom of the drivers side wing.
They seize up and hence why the fuse has probably blown.

Thought that might be the case.
Is the fan obvious ? Because if it is mine has been stolen :o
I have taken off the small grille at the bottom of the driver side front wing and all I can see is the intercooler.
Is the fan an inline type inside one of the pipes ?

Yes, its built into a plastic duct that sits on the front of it.

Back into the old clothes again, I'll let you know what I find....

Part No. is 90540637
And they are not cheap (I paid £99 for one from VX dealer)
Original was seized solid with rust so do not expect to be able to salvage it!

Early ones didnt hav eth I.cooler fan, and i have freed off at least three simply by unbolting the whole intercooler and fan in one lump then carefully working it with penetrating fluid, eventually gets to the stage whee you can put 12v direct to it and then run it for half an hour while still lubricating it, mine is now wired to a switch and i make sure i switch it on at least every coupe of days to keep it free,
mind you with the mountain roads where we live i need it on coming up the hills for the extra power it produces!!!
for those that dont know we live high in the mountains of spain!!! :y

Curiouser and curiouser.......
Blown fuse but definately no fan :-? or no wires leading to it :-?
Is there an oil cooler fan, could this fuse be for that fan instead ?
Would it be worth retro-fitting an intercooler fan ?
Thanks everyone

Fan fitted to later cars only. It sits just in front of intercooler, which is just in front of drivers side front wheel arch.

I think fitted to X25DT engines, not U25DT. Thats what I meant by later ;)

It's an older '95 M
Would it be worth fitting a fan though ?

Yes, esp if you can control manually ;)

Probably the easiest way to do it as there are no wires already in place.
What do you think the blown fuse is for ?
