Well, about 2 months ago, as recommended by a work collegue, I tried my luck on a rolling road centre in Uxbridge (power engineering) and at 4689rpm in 5th gear I had 272.4bhp at the 'fly' and a top end 'bottom out' speed of 227.4mph in 5th gear......... this sound absolutly ridiculous to me as I know MV6's only have around 210bhp at the fly wheel..... but the note on the print out says and I quote "boost pressure at turbine 2 low, suggest new bearings" what th3e hell does that mean? This car is really and trully baffling me beyond belief, I had to buy a crank sensor, but the 2 that my local store sold me wouldnt fit the loom in my omega but the one that fitted was a lotus charlton one, and funnily enough it works a dream........ but my engine looks like an omega 3.0 v6 from the top, im sick to death with my car ;D

By the way, I know a few police officers browse here, any from Linclnshire force that can help me with this shed of sh*te, I cant for the life of me work out what parts to buy for it, according to the vehicle data paperwork, its an ex Lincolshire armed response vehicle and high speed rapid response MV car, whatever that means, the only thing the paperwork doesn't mention is the service history and upgrades (if any) but the V5 has it recorded as an 'Opel Mv6 enforcement'
Truly worried as the next MOT is due and a couple of thing need sorting and I really dont know what parts im buying, Omega bits dont fit if that makes sense?

Well, it won't have any boost pressure unless it has a turbo conversion, which is unlikely. Those figures sound completely fictional for a standard GM V6. I'd say the rolling road was set up wrongly or the coastdown was not done properly. Or maybe you have something special under the bonnet?
I don't know what gearing it has to top out at 227 :o Hence why I say the rolling road was out of whack.

i would agree with the top speed end of it as i have a 3.0 manual with a lsd and if any thing they seem to be lower geared than the autos , i know my car at 140-145 mph it is at near 6k so to get 227 mph you would be doing well, to even get 151 the stated max for a 3.0 manual before the rev limiter cut in which is not somthing i intend to be doing in top gear for the sake of my engines health saying that i have no doubt it would pull the rev limiter in top if you wanted it to but i would not recomment it ;D

a few police forces have got turbo charged mv6s they were made in the late ninetes by COURTNEY Sport they should have a turbo on i think its the left manifold from what courtney were telling me they stopped turbo converting them in 2000 as the company that made the special manifolds went bust if your is a turbo conversion then its very very rare!!!!!!
ring courtney up and they should help you by minimum it will of had upgraded cams and a modified ecu the top speed is theoretical!
the sensors will be the same as a normal MV6 but you might of had the oval connector and vauxhall reckon you have a square one ! i had this problem there is noway an omega body can go upto 227 mph thats faster than a mclaren f1! i would say as others have said that its the rolling road wasnt set up!
but if you do have a turbo conversion then it aint a shed of shyte!!!!!

The Courtney Turbo was produced for the Irish Police as an Estate and produced less BHP than a normal 3.0 but more mid range torque to help with acceleration when fully loaded with all the gear the police carry

I think the clue is in the RPM for peak power. No way would it peak at 4600 RPM. More like 6K+.
The rolling road doesn't know true RPM so this has to be set up based on the speed of the rollers and I think this is where it has gone pete tong. Rolling road has decided that, as it's doing 4600 RPM at probably 150'ish it'll be going a good bit fater at the red line!
If you're concerned it's not standard take a few pictures under the bonnet and post them up. We'll soon identify what you have. :y

You can make your car as powerful as you like, but unless you actually change the gear ratios, you're not going to get much (if any) more speed at the top end. You'll only get to as fast as your gearbox will allow more quickly. :y

Don't foget the top speed on a rolling road is irrespective of aerodynamic drag, it's all down to gearing.
Not a lot of cars *can* hit red line in 5th due to the logrythmic way in which the power has to increase to get ever decreasing increases in speed
eg you might need an extra 10bhp to get the top speed from 100 to 110, but to increase top speed to 120 from 110 will take 20bhp. (figures for illustrative purposes only).
But yeah, top speed on a RR entirely down to gearing.
Saying that, my MV6 auto, for example, is doing 80mph at 2700rpm.
That means roughly 340rpm per 10mph. Therefore at the 6600 (i think?) redline, you'd be looking at 195mph, but on a standard MV6 you won't have enough power to force the car through the air at that speed.

Yes, I agree that sounds a bit ambitous but...
It's been known for Plod to tune their motors a bit... :-/
And (being the owner of a 3.2 ex-plod mobile), I've had a scr07e pull up next to me at the lights in an Impreza Turbo, and beaten him covincingly (not that I drag-race too oftenly :D )
Indeed, my missus was driving on the way to Newcastle a few weeks ago, and we were doing over 110mph, and I said "slow down!!!", and she didn't realise how quick we were going. She said she was only "tickling" the accelerator.
So it wouldn't suprise me if that BHP-figure is true... ::)

mclaren f1 lm went 242mph didnt it but i thought the standard factory one went just over 200mph?

I got my 2.5 cdx to 125mph (on GPS) on the autobahn a few weeks ago but chickened out (I was still being overtaken mind :o )
It was sitting around the 4.5 rpm and still had some left... 8-)

going back to the impreza post,i had a do with an rs focus a couple of weeks ago.and it blow the ****out me!didnt realise it was an rs till it went past!ill get me coat >:(

Just catching up with the forum. (newbie, only joined today)
Just reading about your top speed figs etc.
My 1st thought was the dyno needing calibrating then I decided to convert the MPH report to KPH.
1 mph = 1.609344 kph (found on google)
I then divided the 227.4 MPH by the above and got a figure of 141.29980911476974469100453352422 (win calc) which to me sounds like a more realistic reading, dunno regards the 270+ BHP though.

yea agree bhp a bit lucky !! mine is chipped no cats full stainless exhaust 2.5" bore and carbon filter and i will be lucky to be getting 250bhp !! :y and have had mine to 155 mph on gps at 5500rpm on private road of course :y :y
