Title: Codes P0170 and P0173
Post by: kcl on 31 March 2008, 06:28:58
Still getting the EML on time to time... Have not read the codes today, but last time there was P0170 and P0173, which were suspected to point to MAF. So, once the light came on again, I changed the MAF without any success... The light comes on, stays on a day or two, the a week without etc... O2 sensor could be one issue, but why it's gving codes for both the banks?

Am I right in saying that air leaks can usually be heard under bonnet.

One way to find an air leak is to lightly spray carb cleaner around the vac pipes with the engine running, as the cleaner is drawn into the engine the speed/sound will change, so helping find the leak area. Once found a quick wipe with paper towel removes the excess cleaner and cleans the engine at the same time .. :)
