Title: Auto to Manual conversion
Post by: ajb on 01 April 2008, 23:24:03
I have an S plate 3.0 MV6 auto and have acquired a 95 N plate 2.0 16v manual. Is it possible to use the parts from the 2.0 to make the v6 a manual  or did the v6's and 2.0ltrs run different manual gearboxes?

  I'm sure you'll find the 2.0L is a R25 box and the 3.0L is a R28 box.

What you need to find is somebody breaking a manual 3.0 and get all the bits you need......like:

Front prop shaft section
Possibly diff
Gearbox
Pedal box
clutch master cylinder
gearlinkage and shift
gear surround
fluid pipes
flywheel
clucth

etc, etc ,etc...

Or some one who's selling a manual car.  ;)

Yup, he's after an auto now.  I know at one point he was toying with converting to manual, but seeing as this is his UK car, and he don't spend that much time here, I suspect the benefit doesn't outweigh the work.  Either that, or I've convinced him that autos are the way to go ;D
