Title: Stupid woman, LOL
Post by: bighed on 29 March 2008, 15:55:06
got into my motor about half hour ago and as I was pulling away some woman told me traffic master had expired and a number I could ring, then started doing what I could make out to be a kinda "systems check"  ""1...2...3........etc"  :o i know about the traffic master system, and the button, which was not touched at all. Even when I did touch the button to turn it off the display said "PHONE" and she came back and started again. I turned ignition off and back on again for ten secs and she has gone, FOR NOW..... Any ideas chappies???  :-? :-?

About 1 in 30 or 40 starts mine will pipe up too. It's not a system check that she's talking through it's their phone number and the serial number that your system is so that if you wanted to re-subscribe you would quote it on the phone number she gives out and they will re-activate your system.

Don't worry about it.

If you press the TM button about 8-10 times she shuts up for a few weeks.

If you take the radio out and cut the two wires she shuts up for good .. :)

If Mildred starts to count up she thinks you are trying to either enter a code or are trying to set the base volume. Sometimes happens when you start the car.

I had the sam prob with a V6 Vectra we used to have - but the problem went away once I fitted an aftermarket head unit.

Had to wire it in for remote steering wheel controls, and a place to plug AV leads in for DVD (summut to keep kids quiet on long trips round Europe), so it was a glovebox out jobbie.  TM unit was on top of that - may be in same place on t'Omega?  ::)  :y

Seems all I can do to eliminate the PHONE display and disabled stereo is to disconnect the battery until it happens again.  wood.

Anyone know what the drill hole 1 inch below my TM button would have been for, and whether that could be a sign of some dodgy wiring lurking? Ex cop car maybe?

The malfunction shot my steering wheel controls and made my changer eject too. All working OK now though, until the next time!

I suspect an old phone kit is root of your issues, though as suggested on your thread, removal of the TM unit is next diag step :)
