Title: Smokey MV6
Post by: storm1 on 04 April 2008, 22:15:56
Hi all
As you can see i am very new to this site and already i have a small issue with my MV6 that i have just bought.

When the engine is cold i get a very smal puff of blue smoke on start up and lingers while travelling until it warms up, when hot there is no sign what so ever. It gives me the impression of breathers blocked up, but there don't seem to be any back pressure. :-/

Do any of you pro's know of this as being a common fault or not before i go back to the dealer and start spitting feathers.

Look forward to your replys

i think it is valve steam oil seals ,it seems to be a problem on the 2.6 omega for some reason as it does not seem to affect to any other v6 omegas

I would suggest cleaning the breathers as the first step and reassess afterwards....

Are you certain it's oil smoke and not water vapour?

A trail of vapour is normal until the exhaust has warmed up.

I would expect stem seal leakage to give smoke at start up, but very quickly stop after moving off.
