Title: omega 2.5td  IN TANK FUEL LIFT PUMP
Post by: kenlyn on 07 April 2008, 10:11:11
Hi all
I am a new member and have already benefited from other members help regarding overheating(water pump fan shattered)
After fitting a new pump and thermostat(changed stat whilst area was stripped down) , after filling with water/antifreeze car started ok, and drove a few miles. The following morning car wouldn't start. Loosened injector feed pipe and no fuel getting through. After establishing 12v supply is going to the in tank pump, and even trying a direct 12v supply from spare battery, there is no noise to indicate pump operation. Before changing pump ,ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Thank
Kenlyn

Is the fuel low (like below 1/4 tank)?

Moving to correct area.

Hi
Tank almost litre 55 fuel.
Previously experienced sluggish start at approx 20 litres.
Thanks

20 litres and below you will struggle to start if your lift pump is dead - although above that it should be fine... no air locks in the system?

Pump isn't operating so presumably any air lock will not clear until pump runs?

The lift pump isn't really needed when running, as main injection pump will do all the work.

If your lift pump is knackered, and you have started it with little fuel, you may find fuel filter has a lot of air in.  Remove and top up with diesel.
