Title: fuel pump

i have got a 2003 2.2 estate diesel  the engine management light keeps coming on my friend looked at it and said it comes up as a fuel pump fault but he said not many people will touch them only main dealer can anybody help please
i went to main dealer and they want £1485 for new pump :'(

I'd drive a few miles up the A46 for a second opinion on what fault is ;)

If it is the injection pump, these are indeed very expensive.

As TB says, let him check it out........coz thats blinking expensive.......didnt get that size bill on my merc when fuel pump popped its clogs......about £1200 iirc....and that was merc dealer price!!....that included flushing the system out.
