Was she or wasn't she...? killed by MI6, that is. Well here's what I think. Without going into whether it is beneath the Royal Family to scoop that low, or whether MI6 would have actually gone along with anything like this, I think we can agree that IF it was indeed a professional hit that it would have been carried-out by er... professional hit men.
Now I can't see a pro relying on a car accident as the murder weapon... firstly, the results of a car crash are pretty unpredictable. The proof is that the bodyguard, who was seating in the 'death seat', i.e. the seat where a passenger is most likely to die in a crash, survived. And the general opinion at the time was that had Diana and Dodi strapped-on their safety belts, they might have survived as well. So unless you put a bomb in a car or physically push it over a cliff, I can't how a professional MI6 assassin would leave so much to chance. Lethal injection with an umbrella yes, but car crash? I don't think so... (no doubt hotel21 is better informed than me regarding such matters).
Secondly, the method allegedly used is also one that leaves much to chance. Who can foresee with any degree of accuracy that nudging a 2-tonne Merc with a 800Kg Fiat Uno will produce a crash that will kill both rear occupants? It could have ended very differently.
Thirdly, we are told that the Merc was followed by a string of paparazzi on bikes and in cars. Again a pro would not take the chance of getting caught on film and would not do this in front of a crowd with long zoom cameras.
So as much as I am sympathetic with Mr. Fayed for the loss of his son, if we accept what he is suggesting we need to assume that this was a very sloppy and messy operation that succeeded by pure chance. And I rate the secret services in this country slightly higher than that...
Any thoughts on this?

Whilst I also sympathise with Fayed I can't help thinking he's a little bitter with the establishment of this country for repeatedly turning down his attempts to gain citizenship.
I also think he needs to ask himself how a member of our royal family came to be travelling in a car driven by a drunk driver in his employment, at those kind of speeds.

Your most likely right but we will never know, it was a sad day when she died, I was actually on the parade at her wedding in my Coldstream Guardsman days
-
Am I right in thinking the only one who survived was the only one wearing a seat belt?
-
I personaly think it was a pure accident, there was no way of knowing for certian that the crash would kill the occupants. If it was a set up then i think it would have been done in a more clinical and definate way. Just my two penneth worth.

Maybe we have all been brainwashed into thinking how could it be so stupid, m16 would not be so stupid, their plan worked then. :-/ :-/

Sometimes the easiest way to be unseen is to be obvious.....
Who questions the guy in the yellow jacket with the clipboard and hard hat walking down your street? Different to this case, agreed, but easy to get the gist... ;)
