I have had the cam covers off several times with new gaskets and selant but to no avail thay all ways leaked .
I noted the last time that the covers were worped and bent in slightly in the centers is there wos metal one for sale here I wos thinking is it worth geting them thanks.

The covers are probably bent because they've been over tightened, they should only be 8nm and the gaskets are probably leaking because the breathers are blocked. The metal covers do fit off the Vectra but the oil filler is in the wrong place and if the breathers block again with the metal covers you will more than likely blow a cam or crank seal which is more hassel than replacing a cam cover gasket. If the 2.5 is an Omega then its not a Vtec as it hasn't got Variable Valve Timing ;)

I dont know why I tipyed vtec my old lady got a honda 2.2 I think thats a vtec ( 2 much drink)
so better to stick to plastic covers then , good advice ill buy new one,s

Not as much as VXs will charge you for new one's :o.
You'd be better off taken up an offer such as sir ffcgary1 has made :)

That's 2 of us then, is my memory playing up or arent the rocker covers
fixed to the top of the cam bearings?, in which case overtightening would not account for it either.

a friend of mine is a vauxhall mechanic he said he has done over 60 omegas with leaking gaskets and has never seen warped covers he said the common mistake people make is not doing all the bolts to the right torque setting

Elite Pete & Timbuk changed the 'cam cover gaskets' on my 2.5. The left hand bank (1,3,&5) was very bad. Great job, great price, great people. That was back in January, 8,000 miles ago, just checked all 6 plugs, all look fine. One strange thing was the plug caps held old oil for a few weeks which leached out, this gave the effect that the new gasket was leaking, but the oil was dark brown (new clear oil in sump), sorted by cleaning them a few times with WD40, all o.k.

i've still yet to see these mythical warped ones that garages use to cover their iuncompitence
Mark discovered mine were warped, due to my incompetant mechanic torquing them up to 80 instead of 8nm! lmao
iirc a short spell in Mrs DTM's oven sorted them out ::)

Whos oven........I dont recall Mrs DTM being compitent with an oven
I did try the heat and straighten technique but it didn't work so replaced them with good second hand items.
