Title: sumps for V6's
Post by: Jay w on 17 April 2008, 20:13:47
We are in the process of fitting the RWD sump to a FWD engine, now i was under the impression that there were gaskets fitted to the mating faces.

VX claim that it is just black sealant, can anyone confirm if there are gaskets and what the Pt number should be.

Thanks

cheers mate....

spoke to the breakers in Heathrow, they have nothing currently which is a shame cos i could have picked it up on the way home.

i am going to put a wanted ad up, its my fault i shouldn't have revved the nuts out of the engine  :-[

i wouldn't want to take the chance, if it doesn't hold then it is the whole sump off again as it is the upper part i have damaged.

I'm going to post some piccy up of the damage on the weekend  ;D 8/10th's of a conrod, a 6 piece piston, a remodelled big end ;D ;D ;D

You use the same sealent as the oil cooler for the sump....i.e. the grey stuff in the mastic type tube

If the FWD (Vectra?) sump you have is alloy and not damaged, I will swap you an Omega one................with the wide front end ?
