As the title says you guys i get a vibration as soon as i get around 80 mph and it travels through the whole car and up through the seat too.
Had the wheels balanced to no avail. very uncomfortable ride. all speeds upto 80 are as smooth as you like...
any ideas people?..........
Cheers........
Keith....

Stick to the speed limit ;D
No seriously, have you had a proper 4 wheel tracking done? They may be a bit far from you, but I'm booked into Wheels in Motion in the next couple of weeks. It is well worth doing. :y
This needs doing properly and is not your standard KwikFit job, someone may be able to advise you i there is someone more local to you that can do it.

problem just seemed to come on all of a sudden though so do you think tyre pressures may have something to do with it as i've had them swapped front to back but havn't altered pressures?
There's a place near me called Buckley Tyres that do four wheel alignment and are pretty good.....

rear wheels may have been out of balance and now youve swapped them with the fronts your noticing the imbalance :-/

Surely it'd be there all the time and not just at high speed (80ish)?

Check the wheel bearings for excess play.
Jack up the wheel, grasp at 12/6 o'clock and pull/push in/out top/bottom to get idea of the free play.
Repeat at 3/9 o'clock and get same idea.
Repeat both steps with someone in the car and their foot on the footbrake.
If the free play dissappears, wheel bearings are suss.... If its the same would be looking at actual wheel imbalance (but this usually manifests at 55 to 65 mph speeds) or a tyre bulge (dangerous) or lastly suspension bushes....

Hi,
I had a very similar problem on a Renault Safrane. Balance checked umpteen times.
Eventually found to be faulty rear tyre, worn slightly more on one part of circumference, so at speed was slightly oval.
Tyre place blamed faulty shock absorber as reason for uneven wear, but I don't know.
New tyre fixed it though.
