Done my cam cover gaskets last saturday and all looked fine till yesterday when I could smell oil again. Ducked under car and There is oil on the two bottom bolts (whatever they are) So at least one is leaking again. :'( :'( :'( Is there a particular order the bolts need doing up in?? And it was 8nm they need to be tightened to wasnt it??

yep 8nm - were they genunine vx and did you put the appropriate level of sealant on them ?

Genuine gaskets?
I go round the bolts 2-3 times checking that they are 8Nm....

Hi
Did you clean the breathers.

Have a feel around the outside and pull whatever plug leads you can to check for leaking.
It may not be panic time though. There will have been oil around which had already leaked out and is only now finding its way onto something hot. So maybe no problem.
Unless they are obviously leaking I would give it a couple of weeks to burn off.
Also note the point about cleaning breathers - this is essential (and quite easy)

I agree with ians mate, probably just the old oil burning off unless it's actually dripping when it's running.
I had loads of old oil left to burn off after i did mine, took a couple of weeks.

Yes genuine gaskets from vx. Where should sealant go n will tell you if I did it right. I jet washed under side of engine, day after doing it and its been clean till yesterday. Cam gaskets were done week last saturday. Oil is dripping from the 2 bolts, think they are star ones behing the sump gasket. Yes breathers were cleaned. Used two tins and some welding wire.

Theres a how too and its essential that the sealant is placed as discussed in it...

99% sure thats where we put the sealant. Would the old oil still be dripping from places??

Any ideas anyone?? :-/ :'(

are you sure its oil and not coolant ie. you have a coolant leak too?
-
Is it dripping on the ground or just wet?
You didn't do an oil change at the same time and spill some from the filter by any chance?
I still think you should wait a bit, assuming the plug wells are not obviously filling up again.

I had mine done for me last week, and the oil under the engine was quite considerable, so i did get a mild oily burn smell for a couple of hundred miles.
Before i had them done, i had full on smoke in the cabin >:(
The arse area of the engine had picked up lots of oil, so it took awhile to burn off :y

Yeah its dripping onto the floor. When I move the car and look on groung there are 3 drips there. Going to see timbuk soon and see what he says :y :y :y
