Title: Catera Grill on Omega
Post by: Albert1 on 01 May 2008, 09:51:56
Has anyone here gone to the effort of fitting a Catera grill to their Omega B?  If so, how did you get on?  I bought one last month whilst in Seattle, and although I reckon I can get it to fit, it's not quite as simple as a straight swap, as the Catera item seems to be made to fit a bumper that juts out a little further and has a deeper cut out for the grill.

Omega and Catera grilles are a direct swap. Cateras come in prefacelift and facelift models just like the Omega. Sounds like you might've bought the wrong one.

I think, I say I think, I can tell the difference between a facelift grill and a prefacelift one.........

not quite a straight swap, a little work is needed

Well, it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong. I know a few guys on the Catera Forum who have installed Opel grilles and none has mentioned any trick to it. But now that I think about it they had '00 - '01 models. Is the problem installing a Catera grille on a pre-facelift?

PS: Great looking car Sassanach.

the top fits ok, but you have to grind the lower edge  to almost like a razor blade and fabricate two bkts to mount it

i agree, although the omega grille appeared to fit the catera perfectly, the catera grille needed just a touch of modifying

I like the Catera grill, never really been a fan of the big V on the grills in recent years.

Anyone got one for sale?
