quick question
the idle speed on the car feels very low 500rpm
which makes the car gearstick vibrate is this norm or can the icv need a clean to increase the rpm to aprox 650

500 rpm is normal when warm.
Clean the icv.

I tried cleaning my ICV and it still runs lumpy, but its at about 600RPM, the rubber bit that holds it in seems a bit loose, I tried to get a new one from VX and they said there are none in the country, there are two listed in Germany but by the sounds of it thats the last of them, I guess I will have to try the black sealant

Like already said 500 rpm is normal without climate on, with climate on (if there is gas in) revs should be around 600 rpm :y

If the rubber thing holding the ICV on to the plenum is knackered then it will be leaking air which could be the cause of the slightly rough idling...

Blanking off the EGR can also improve idle quality, it did on my 2.5 anyway.

Mine idles at 450 rpm (when hot), but does not rise to 600 when I turn on the AC (I dont have climate control) it rather drops everytime there comes electric load on, not much but enough to notice on the rpm gaugde and increasing the vibration already there. this happens fx when puttin on the highbeam at idle.

when sat in traffic and idle is a bit lumpy i usualy turn acc on to improve ;)

Idle problems usually mean the ICV and breathers need cleaning, comprehensive guides in the Maintenance Section.

I had same problem on my V6 tourer.
Replaced ICV with cleaned item.
Was better.
Then cleaned out air intake and refitted ram pipes.
Went to start it up and the idle was irratic from 1000-1800 RPM. going up and down every few seconds.
Tried my old ICV and was the saem.
Any suggestions?????

Andyb, your car should as said idle at a constant steady 500rpm, the power of the 2.5v6 allows a lower idle speed than some other cars...if the rubber mounting is loose/worn...a light coving of grease on the rubber and a large rubber mallet to tap it firmly into place may help, did on mine no end, will be leaking air if not...if its really bad then a good second hand one is quite possibly the solution, plus clean the IACV itself out...
