Title: Petrol gauge false reading

Hi all
         2.0 L 0mega petrol gauge has been faulty a while now When it's showing nearly half full it runs out any ideas anyone.

Its worth popping the fuel pump assembly out of the tank (not hard to do) and checking the float on the level sender is free to move and not fouling on any of the pickup pipes.

         Thanks for the response Mark does anyone know where i can get a fuel pump cover plate as on inspection mine is all corroded.

Fuel senders I've come across in the past have just one 'earth' to it. If you ground this you should read 'FULL' on the gauge. A lot easier to do as a first test than remove the float/sender unit. If you don't get a full deflection then it's your gauge that's fubar'd.

Clean it up and slap some grease on it to stop it getting any worse....
