Hi guys, I have got a fairly big leak from the HBV area of the engine bay, cant reallt tell exactly where it is coming from though. I havent got a new HBV and as its Sunday tomorrow wont be able to get one till Monday. I am trying to get to the valve but after removing the scuttle I still cant seem to get close to it. Looking at Looknee's picture in the maintanence section its dead easy to get too but not on my car!
Any tips for getting at it easier? Also anyone in the Leicester / Nottingham area got a new Vauxhall HBV I could buy off you?

Once the scuttle is off it should be fairly easy, did mine in 20mins start to finish. Once you unclip it from its bracket there is quite alot of movement on the pipes which makes life easier ;)

I think it too is a pain in the arse to get at even with the scuttle panel off but like already said once its off its bracket its a little easier.....
The picture I posted was taken with my Plenum removed which does make it far easier IMHO :y

Oh thats why its so easy to see lol! Well you were both right after unclipping it I can pull it towards me and get at it. Still cant quite see where it is leaking from, looks like the top pipe on the HBV. Obviously wont be able to get the part till tomorrow. If I take the HBV off and put a t piece between the 3 pipes will that work? Or will having no vacuum pipe connected make it run rough? I hope this leak hasnt affected the dis pack :(

Thats why I would try not to use it mate if it were me..

Been down this road recently myself. Had a small leak in a pipe somewhere below the HBV...totally screwed the dis pack...a £1.50 rubber hose cost me over £200 in the end..darn it.

Well I got this changed today, was a right pain to get those stupid clips off, lost the right angle vaccuum pipe off the top of the valve aswell. When I put the new one on I used jubilee clips instead although it leaked and had to tighten them up a bit. Replaced the vaccuum pipe with one off my Volvo I am scrapping. All seems ok now although I am unsure if it is working correctly. When the air con is on and set to low then should the heater pipes still get hot? If not then how long after turning to air con should it take them to get cold? Also I can't get the valve to go onto the clip, does it matter if it wont clip on?

Put the spring clips back on - they are there for a reason, partial for speed, but also to allow expansion/retraction as it heats/cools.
