Theres one pub in old town.......that has converted its beer garden.....into a huge marque......with sides removed.....put patio heaters in there and even has 2 large plasma tv screens in it ;D
The marque looked packed when i went past earlier.......pub didnt seem that full ::) ;D
Theres another pub other side off town.....that applied for an entertainment license and was given it......for the carpark ;D Thats right, it now has bands performing in the carpark so the smokers dont miss out ;D :y Gawd help the neighbours! ;D Yes it does have houses right next to it ;D
Anyone else seen what extremes pubs will goto to keep the smokers happy??

Smoking was an integral part of an evening for many drinkers, and part of the atmosphere.
The pubs possible saw a big increase in clients in the first couple of weeks, but I bet this wore off quickly, and are now beginning to see less than they had pre ban, hence having to jump through these hoops.
Utterly stupid law, by a brain dead government out of ideas.
I should add, I am a non smoker, and don't (like all non smokers) like smoke much. But people should have the choice.
I see, as I have been saying since the ban, that the authorities are slowly putting out stories about how bad drink is, and how much its costing the NHS etc.... ....drinking will be the next ban....

Yes I bet the novelty will have worn off now and those that don't normally go in pubs cozof the smoke will be back doing whatever they did pre ban.
Looks like the next purge will be those of us of a larger stature, obesity set to cost the nhs a fortune so I expect we are gonna get banned from the cake shop next.
Bloody nanny state. >:( >:( >:(

I agree, tho as im a smoker im biased.....
As ive said before on the forum......Pubs should have been made to choose......smoking or non.....then displayed a plaque outside clearly stating 'smoking' or 'non smoking' and then let the public decide.......i think there may have been a tad more smoking pubs tho.......i think before the ban....there was only two pubs in Swindon operating a total no smoking policy.....i can think of another couple that had smoking areas inside......and another that smoking wasnt allowed at the bar

Quite an extreme view... but -
As a non smoker also, I would personally be happy, if there was an area I could go to in a pub, where I could get away from the smoke - and an area for smokers. I think that's the fairest compromise.
I do agree with the ban, on public transport, though...

Possibly, but even as a non smoker, I think its wrong. As a non smoker, if the smoke upset me, I would leave. Market forces then dictate what is best for that pub, not some bunch of idiots in Westminster looking to justify their existence.

I would like to see someone try it on with them.
Body builders are not obese.
Quite often fat people end up with more muscle to carry their beer bellies

I was the captain of my loacals pool and darts teams,
now over half of the teams smoked and guess what once the ban came in there is no darts or pool teams
the money the pub loose is quite alot as on the match nights you have 20 ish more people in the pub all drinking.
Week nights now the pub is about empty which is sad to see.
i used to be in there 3 nights awek and now i might go to a pub once a month.
couldnt see what was wrong with a half and half pub with seperate rooms??
-
If all the pubs Invested in an industrial extractor system then i think the problem would be solved, i am
also a non smoker, but i believe everyone should be allowed to choose what they would like to do in their free time, and if that means going down the pub to talk to his mates and have a beer and a fag
then that s ones own decision.
As for the over weight thing i weigh 16 1/2 stone at 6,0ft with a fat percentage of 9%. for my job i need a
medical every 2 years the nurse only told me once, that i neede to loose weight. As soon as i took my
shirt off she couldnt say anything any more it just made me smile :y :y
