Title: Cam belt
Post by: CBH on 10 May 2008, 22:41:47
Just changed my water pump because it was leaking from the front.
But when I had the cam belt covers off I noticed if I looked very close that there is a sort of crazing on the outer surface of the belt, the belt has only done 28.5k miles and is about 20 months old.
Is this normal Should I be worried ??? the rest of the belt looks good.

If you have the slightest doubt as to belt or tensioner condition, change them.

Its too much of a 3D jigsaw puzzle to sort if it goes wrong after failure, IMHO.....

you have to remove the front cam belt cover to get to the water pump bolts.

I think my waterpump is near the end of it's life as it has started making a rattling noise.
