when braking my car is pulling to the left through the steering wheel and when you brake harder the steering wheel wobles like made but i know its not the brakes when you brake with no hands on steering wheel stops in straight line,changed outer track rod ends going to change inner ones on thursday,had idler arm done three years ago can that have gone again or is their something else it could be,any ideas guys and girls :y :y :y

Sounds like you need the geometery set up properly.
Also have your brakes checked on an MOT machine, this will tell wether your brakes are working properly or not.
My money is on your geometery being miles out, a trip tp WIM or similar me thinks ;)

As Dazzler said, a trip to Wheels In Motion might be needed. Might also be worth getting your brake discs checked as they could be warped and this will cause wheel wobble under braking.

The first thing I'd check is the condition of the brakes. If the vibration is only under braking it's probably a worn disc and the pulling could be due to uneven braking between left and right.
Failing that check for any movement or play in the wheel bearings or suspension bushes before getting any alignment carried out.
Also check tyre condition and pressure. I have had such wobbles caused by bulging tyres before.

As kevin said, may well be suspension bushes. If your car tramlines at all it might be the bushes on your front wishbones...

Sounds like classic wishbone bush failure to me. One of the rear vertical bushes.
Very difficult to see with the wishbone on the car. If you jack up the wheels and compare left and right you might be able to see the torn/sagging bush.
It will get worse quite quickly.
No point in getting the geometry checked until you've fixed it.
Pattern wishbones are £20 a side.

Sounds like wishbones to me... Although it could be as simple as wheel balance causing the wobble!
The symptoms described are similar to mine and i know i need new wishbones... Just haven't had time to do them yet! ;) :y

had passneger side wishbone done 2 years ago drivers side one never been done in the five years i have had the car,when i had car jacked up yesterday drivers side looks like the back bush has slit split in it,would this cause the pulling to the left

Exactly the problem I've got!!!
Just because you had one replaced 2 years ago doesn't mean it hasn't failed again!!
I'd replace the pair and be done with it (they're cheap enough!!)... Once that's done you may want to consider a full geometry set up at WIM! :y :y

Any split wishbone bush is likely to cause either a wobble when braking a pull to one side or both.

as well as the wheel woble on full right hand lock i get a knock noise just once but not on full left hand,do you think its still wishbones :y :y :y

i changed the drop links last weekend and changed the tie-rods "inner and outer both sides of vehicle" had the tracking done then noticed irregular wear to one tyre so i changed both front tyres but vibration through the whole car is still there. My m.o.t is due in a month and would rather sort this out before hand.. how much would main dealer wishbones be if i got myself a trade card?...

Not a trade card item. Cheapest source of genuine ones is via AndyC on here / Autobahnstormers.... Trouble is you can buy at least four pattern ones from www.vauxhallcentre.co.uk for the price of one at VX

i think i'll be changing the wishbones before the test in june also, front suspesion components are a pain in ythe arse on these cars,good job i like the cars or it would be rid off or hit with a big hammer ;D ;D ;D :y :y :y

Ok thanks for that. didn't know there where items you couldn't buy with the trade card... did someone once write a tread aboiut possible problems with buying patten wishbones?

no vauxhall ones are about 35 pounds each.will be getting them from nearest motor suplier,i think tere just as good as genuine ones :y :y :y

It's all down to the quality of the bushes fitted to the pattern ones, the big price difference of the pattern ones means that if they only lasted a quarter as long as genuine ones you'd still be quids in.

Genuine Vauxhall ones are at least £100 each

i know there's a how to on changing these wishbones (which i aint read as yet) but roughley how long to change each side? any special tools needed too?

30 to 60 minutes a side just three nuts and bolts,one horizontal nut and bolt at front,one vertical nut and bolt at rear and ball joimt nut,but undo ball joint nut first,then other two,two nuts and bolts might be very tight so plenty of wd40 on them,oh and tighten the bolts in the air and then on the deck when car is down

sorted problem was wishbones drives side one was well and truely shot,front bush was split and rear bush was split and metal to metal,not to bad to do ether which makes a change,drives like new now well pleased 8-) 8-) 8-)
