Title: crack of dooooooom, big time

Today i went out with mrs ffcgary and opened the drivers door and heard the dreaded sound of the door check strap break off the door inside, could anyone please post up the part no for the repair kit please, it is the drivers side that i require if they are not universal.

 This is just not what i need just before my hols, and i have been so carefull since i have owned the car to aviod this problem :( >:(

Is it the actual strap mechanism thats U/S ? Or has it just (just??) broken away from the door ?

If the latter, the guy who does my bodywork repaired mine using a couple of large penny washers either side of the tear, and bolted the assembly through them. The VX repair kit is basically the same concept, just being plates and slightly longer bolts, as far as I understand --- penny washers are a lot cheaper and easier to get hold of --- and, so far, are holding well !!!!
