Where is the best place to purchase a Gates kit for the 3.0l engine & what sort of price should I be aiming for?
Do members recommend changing the water pump at the same time?
Thanks in advance. :y

Apparently buyparts.co.uk are a good price around £70-75 I think....
As for the water pump it is easy to change when doing your Cambelt... some say to change it every other cambelt change... me personally for the price I will change with every cambelt :y

Saw in another topic that they're only £48+VAT from Vauxhall...

I'm to understand that Vauxhall have changed their supplier & no longer use the Gates manufactured kit. The current Vauxhall kit is noisier than the Gates version.

Not for a V6! £97 + VAT on TC
Edit - U beat me to it TB

There are Gates kits for V6's on ebay for about £75, by the way - as well as "brown box" VX ones..

As Loo-Knee says, this place is cheap and they deliver quickly :y

Told these are good quality.

I bought mine from http://www.autovaux.co.uk/
It was a Gates kit (SKF marked) identical to the original with the white/green timing marking on the belt.
Cheers.

Gates kits are spot on!!! As for the water pump... You've got to take it off to do the Cam Belt so why not just replace it?? I know I do!! :-? :y :y
-
So what would you expect to pay for a water pump then ?
-
IIRC they are about £30 from Vauxhall for a V6
-
I work at SKF and as far as i am aware all the kits, either timing or aux belt kits, are still supplied with the Gates belt. will check when i go back to work next week. Looked through our auto bearing and timing belt kit catalogue a few weeks ago and noted down kits, bearings, water pump etc i may "require" later.... if you know what i mean ;)
-
I've fitted the SKF kit and they do indeed come with gates belts, complete with markings. :y
Got mine from Autovaux, IIRC.

I got all my parts for the last service, except the belt kit, from andyc and the water pump was less than £30.

Gates belts tend to snap. These are in mid quality in Opel list.
SKF pumps are not as good as they used to be - I've heard about noisy ones and leaking.
If you are looking for a good quality parts, go for:
- belts: Conti-tech, Bosh
- tensioners - INA (GM supplier)
- pumps - GRAF,Ruville (not as good as GRAF but reliable).
Conti belt + INA tensioners/pulleys + GRAF pump = ca 120 Pounds
