Hi,
Is there a maintenance :)guide for replacing the fuel filter on the 2.5L V6 Sedan?
-
Not seen one why are you having problems?
-
No - not yet. Just purchased replacement filter on E-bay and Just wondered on any issues to complete this job and those strange looking clips. :-/
-
U can undo clips using two small screwdrivers - fiddly.
Before you start depressurise fuel system - easiest way is to pull fuse 18 whist engine running - it will stall - its ready then.
When u fit new one (use new clips if poss) make sure pipes click onto filter clips and are secure - shouldn't pull off!

I have previously had a real problem getting the filter off. You might find using fuel line pliers like those sold by Machine Mart helpful http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cht441-3pce-fuel-line-disconnect-set/path/automotive-hand-tools . Though for me these would not work either, probably because I had damaged the clips with a screwdriver!
-
Thanks, I will try it :y
I guess that i shouldnt use the screwdriver then ;D
-
In this instance I would suggest you either pays yer money or takes yer chance! At least if you can't get it off with the right tool you can justify buggering it up with the screwdriver ;)
-
Trust me... you dont want buggered clips either! Whoever changed the fuel filter on my GSi Vec I had... GOD, think they used a sledge hammer! Once day a fuel pipe poped off about 70% of the way...
And I found that out when I smelt fuel... Looked under the car and it was pouring out at an alarming rate! I drove about 0.1 miles to a friends house (Switching ignition off as much as I could to turn the fuel pump off!) and did a bodge repair there so I could drive it home... In that short distance I lost almost 10 litres of fuel! Engine must have been on 1.5 mins at the VERY most. :-[
Quick Question : Are the filters the same as the vectras? As Ive got one here I could put on the miggy ::)!
