Hi everyone :y I took the luxobarge to get the tracking checked today, as it has a slight pull to the left, also at about 70 -75 mph I get a steering wheel wobble similar to unbalanced wheels however this dissappears when the speed goes above 80 .I also noticed excess tyre wear on the out side of the tyres. He checked the tracking an found it to be within tolerances. As it was up on the ramp I noticed that the inside of the tyres seemed also wearing more then they should be. He checked the wishbones which seemed to be o.k but noticed a slight amount of play in the steering idler arm. Would this cause the steering to pull, and cause the wheel wobble? I also think that the steering doesn't feel quite as precise as it used to, but that could be my imagination :-/

You really need to get a full geometry check down, rather than just tracking... ...but if you have any play anywhere in steering/suspension, change that first.

I have had to replace the idler arm on my car about 6 months ago when tony at WIM found some play, i did not have any symptoms of exessive play before. :-?

Thanks T.B. as soon as I get the opportunity I'l get WIM to check it out . Unfortunately at the moment there are no WIM franchisees near me at moment.

tracking can be cock on, but if camber(esp), castor(cant remember what that does) or trail(not so important, i think that adjusts the rate that the steering wheel returns to centre?) is out. It can still destroy tyres. Laser set up should be able to set up the whole car, inc rears. Well worth it asap. Just hope you get an opo that knows what he is doing.
Oh, ps both my omegas had the wobble between, 75 and 85ish that you describe.
Have not had my current car done but wobble was cured on previous car by my tyre man using bit of kit that they do not normally use koz its fiddley and takes a bit more time, it balanced the wheel using the machined surface on the inside of the wheel!!!
Yeah, not sure my self really, i did not enquire exactly how this worked as i guessed this was a one off with my car, but my second car is 4 years younger and has exact same problem. Hoping to balance again tomorrow so will find not more then. Ttfn.
