Hi everybody, I'm contemplating buying my 1st Omega & would appreciate your views on this car I've seen.
2.2CDX auto estate 2001, 82k om the clock with full history & 3 owners. Last serviced 79k but no cam belt change. It has 10 months MOT but a cracked w/screen. The bumpers have a couple of knocks on them but nothing major & it will need a couple of tyres before the next MOT. Everything seems to work as it should & it drives very well indeed. On the information screen it has a message about the front Headlight level needs to be checked I think, (can't quite remember exactly what it said) The chap is asking 1995.00. Does this sound reasonable or should I keep looking for the same spec model?
Coments please!

Not badly priced, i would beat him down to £1,600
Big bargin point is the cambelt, its bang on due changing.
Use this to get the price lower. Ask if the anti-freeze has been changed regulally.
When was it registered in 2001? Remember if its after March1st, and unless the coverment does a u-turn, tax will be £300 a year.

why have you posted this twice in 2 sections! :-/

Chap originally posted in the newbie section and I moved it to genchat as its not really a 'tech help' sort of thing, more an opinion of worth...
Chap then posted the new thread here.

Thanks for the input.
Sorry for being stupid but is there something I should know re the anti-freeze. I did check that it had some in it but I don't know the frequency of change of coolant in this car.

Antifreeze should be a 50/50 mix of Vx red / water. very cheap to change, and easy to do, so I do mine annually. If not correct corrosion internally can cause serious problems.
Vx red on trade card is dirt cheap .. and a trade card only costs £20 a year ... I saved over £80 on my first visit to the dealers !!!!
www.autobarnstormers.org to get a TC :)

I've managed to knock him down to £1750.00, I don,t think he'll go any lower.
Are there any special checks i should make before I buy the car excluding stuff like log book, HPI etc.
I mean Omega quirks or known problem areas or noises.
Any help would be appreciated as I'm hoping to take the car to France Monday morning if all goes well with the purchase.
