Autoglass replaced the rear window. Not a bad job on cleaning up either. Missd a few bits but I bet bits of glass will still be found for months.
My query is, should there be a cut out section in the black banding, around the perimeter, for the high level brake light.
I can't remember how it looked on the original screen, but on the replacement only a thin (2cm approx) section of the brakelight can be seen. Also, when I apply the brakes, the parcel shelf and inside of the black banding illuminates red.
Is it possible they have fitted the rear screen for the earlier model with no high-level brake light or should the rubber strip around the brake light housing be stuck to the glass to seal it ?
-
if you can, post a picture, and someone else will post one for comparison..?
-
the perimeter of the glass has a smaller black section where the brake light sits.
the light is not stuck to the glass, the seal is there to make contact, nothing more than that

Pants !!!
Autoglass did a good job replacing the rear screen and with cleaning up the shattered glass, but it's definately not the right screen for the Hi-level brake light.
Can the black banding be removed to reveal the brake light using something like a glass scraper blade etc or should I go back and get it changed ?
-
I would take it back.
-
I would too. I might even take a picture of another omega that has the correct one fitted so they cant dispute you.
-
Deffo take it back, you should be getting like for like, and they know it.

Spoke to the Autoglass depot today. They checked their listing and they can see only one for the Omega. I explained there are definately two versions as I have two Omegas, My '00 CD with the high level brake light and my '94 Elite without.
They're tidy enough about it and suggested that as I work 9-6 mon to fri and 10-4 sat, if I could take the car down on sunday they'd have a look and take it from there.
I checked my Elite on Sunday afternoon and the black trim on the window they have fitted to my CD is the same.
I'll keep my camera handy in case I spot another with a h/l brake light. Knowing my luck I'll end up following it for miles until it stops, and then I'll probably be met by a couple of Plod and have some explaining to do ;D.
Cheers mee deers :y

There's a speck of dust there at the right-hand corner of the roof AA, have you been playing too much golf lately? :o
Ooops, the speck of dust is on my screen, sorry AA you're in the clear... ;D
