Title: Driver's seat won't adjust
Post by: Malachi on 04 June 2008, 20:44:53
After the sterling help I got with my crank sensor I thought you may be able to help with another issue,

My driver's seat is part electric / mechanical and I can't adjust it properly. It will slide fwd/bwd (mechanical) but the buttons on the side won't move it up it up or down, looking underneath I can see the motor trying to power, when pressing the button it makes a 'thunk' sound and slightly shifts up / down. Also the lever on the front right to make the front of the seat shift up / down (mechanical) doesn't work, the seat seems to be stuck apart from sliding back and forth.

So does anyone have an idea what this maybe, is it common?

When this happened on mine it was a 10p coin trapped down between the seatbely pretensioner and the seat rail .. I only found that out when I removed the whole seat .. which is pretty tricky if it won't move !!!

The coin was impossible to see from any angle whilst the seat was in place.

I would try removing the seat .. its only 4 bolts .. but can be awkward to get to .. much easier when you can motro the seat fully up then forward and back  ...  in my case on refitting  !!!

Funny that you mention the seatbelt pretensioner as the airbag warning light is also on and the previous owner said it was a pretensioner at fault.

I had this aswell when I just had my Omega.
The seat was stuck in the up position.

I followed this guide and solved it

Maybe it is the same problem?
