got in car this morning tryed to move gear stick it would not budge any ideas :-/

There's a manual release down behind the gaiter for if/when the solenoid fails , if memory serves me correctly. I can't check the handbook as SWTSMBO has the car but I'll check Haynes and get back to you ASAP
OK
typing exactly what it says in Haynes :
"carefully unclip the selector lever gaiter from the top of the centre consol, the depress the yellow release lever on the left hand side of the selector lever with a pen or screwdriver. The lever can then be moved as normal"

Are the brake lights working?
Sounds like the brake swithc is a possible, as a work around, pop the gear lever boot off and press the release clip to get it out of park

Yes there is a manual release under the gaiter. You have to prise the complete cover up then you will see a way of releasing the gear handle by lifting up a small lever at the bottom

Check the microswitch that senses that the lever is in park. If its contacts become high resistance you will have increasingly frequent failures.
It's in series with the release solenoid.
Same part is used on the Vectra if you need to find a used one.
