Title: front brake pads
Post by: aoliver on 07 June 2008, 12:47:42
I have bought some GM front pads from a Vauxhall dealer. One pad each side seems to have backing material stuck on it and the other doesn't. There is no indication as to whether the pad with the backing goes in the inside or outside. The old pads were Ferodo and niether have the backing so give no clues. Anyone know which way round to fit the new ones ?

The one with the backing material has an arrow on.
Showing the way the disc rotates.

The one with backing material goes on the outside I think?

The one with the 'backing shim' should be fitted against the calliper piston, use copper grease on all contact surfaces.

If it is a rubber/soft backing, it goes on opposite side to caliper.

Once again to clarify, the brake callipers circular piston should put pressure on the backing shim which is stuck to the steel side of two out of the four brake pads. OK  :y :y
P.S. Copper Grease
