Title: Vectra Radiators  -  Urgent Help require
Post by: Markie on 23 October 2007, 13:16:44
Can anyone help, its kind of an emergancy as i need to fit this vectra radiator at the weekend.

I planned putting pictures on here to show my issue but left my zip drive at home  ::).

Ive removed the vectra 2.6 sri radiator - its really really badly clogged after oil cooler failure. Bought a new genuine vx radiator to replace it with. By the way that was a real swine of a job  :(

Now when i check both radiators side by side there different ( new one is different part number from old ) and new part number is 52479100 - its the only one listed for y26se.

My issue is on the right hand side of radiator - looking from front of car there are two perforated holes that are blocked by a plastic cap that easily comes out. These holes are just above and below where two of the rubber coolant pipes go into it...

The perforations are pinhead sized and the holes about the size of 20p pieces.

Im concerned as theres nothing that fits in them from car and on the old radiator theres no such holes / markings.

Any ideas folks, is this some sort of new improved design feature or simply wrong? Ill post the pictures when i get home.

There are two rads, one for a/c, one without.

The part no. you give is for air con for a 2.5 2.6 I assume you have aircon?

However the old part no would be good......it isnt 52464543 is it? This p/n has been superseeded by the one you have

Sorry carnt help more

yep its a 2.6 y26se with air con on manual box  :y i presume it has air con simply as it has air con radiator still in it just now  ;D seriously yes air con but no climate control.

At work at present and dont have old number but that sounds about right.( swmbo is going to text it when she gets home in a bit)....im pretty darn sure i have the right one its just those differences that irk me.....

Having a Google about. I came across.............. Part Number      52479100
Description      RADIATOR
Category      COOLING
Models      Vauxhall VECTRA-B (1996 to 2001)

found here....... http://www.carpartsconnexion.com/vauxhall/partdetail.asp?dp=16103&f=Vauxhall&m=VECTRA-B&y=Any+year&cat=16&

so it appears you've got the right rad.

I'm sure someone will come along regarding the 2 perforated holes.  :y

right ******UPDATE******

Radiator in the car is m4a 52494542

doesnt sound like a vx part number to me - so maybe its had replacement already and its "oem" anyone find that part number? also what does the air con button on vx look like - im so used to digital climate etc.....

ive found a few pictures to help understand my dilemma - check this link out http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vectra-B-2-0-Diesel-2-5-2-6-Radiator-07-00-07-02_W0QQitemZ280165651265QQihZ018QQcategoryZ10404QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

the photograph on that listing is what is in the car, but the new radiator is similar to the diagram on the listing...if you look at the left had side above and below where the coolant pipes go on the diagram you will see two hexagonal connectors near the top and the bottom...

If the rad is also for autos, autos often have an oil cooler. On Vauxhalls, this is generally integrated into the main rad, and hence the rad needs a feed and return for gearbox oil.

Markie - defo looks like atf oil cooler...

I guess that left side is also the 'cold' side of rad (bottom hose side)

Will be fine.  Doesn't matter if those plugs drop out, as obviously that is the atf chamber, not the coolant area...
