Title: how similar is
Post by: Omegatoy on 08 June 2008, 20:42:46
a vaux 2.4i engine to the 2.2 lump in the omega anyone know?
is it the forerunner or is nothing similar?
estthing about it so far is the 2.4 has got a timing chain not a belt!! :y
trying to sort out why its down on power? runs very smooth after sorting an  airleak and cleaning icv, and cranksensor but just doesent seem to want to rev / anyone got any views?? ;)

closer to 2.0 i think, remember it being in the Frontera.

It won't be coil per plug... not sure if its belt or chain.

Twin cam chain driven isn't it?

If it's the C24NE it's a CIH engine, big old chunky thing that weighs a ton and has less BHP than the 2.0 X20XEV.... however it does have plenty of torque, which I guess is why they fitted it to the Fronterra.

Still don't know why it would be down on power though... plugs and leads maybe?

I don't think they are related in any way...

It is the old CIH design - related to the old original 2.0 2.2 Carlton engines. I'd suggest asking at another site, how about the ABS site?

The good old CIH engine.

Down on power, the chain I assume has not jumped?

The cams are known to sometimes wear to.

it starts on the button and ticks over extremely well very smooth for a 4pot so dont think its cam chain jumped, all plugs are same light colour
plug tester shows same spark on each plug, can find nowt wrong so far however it has a dizzy wonder if the timing is retarded? or is it ecu controlled????? no eml fitted i dont think ???
