Do Omegas ('96 vintage) share their brakes with other VX's? I'm after some uprated pads (M1155's for example) but can't find anything listed for Omegas.

I can’t answer you to this question but can share my opinion – I bought second Omega with drilled discs and “Green Stuff” pads. This might just be a quality of pads but these are horrible! I can give these for free!! I found my old “no name” ones are much better (fitted by a garage).
Please be careful when choosing “performance” pads as you might end up like me – legs performance

Green stuff are very soft and not entirely suitable for a car of the Omega's weight IMHO. I've also heard very variable reports of them on light cars. Some like them, some hate them. I would have thought Red/Yellowstuff would be better suited.
Then again, rewind a second. What are you hoping to use the car for, and in what way do you feel the standard setup is lacking?

Green stuff pads are shit - full stop - so no danger of ever using them. I intend to use the car for a few days hooning round the 'ring in the immediate future. The brakes are not lacking per se, nothing more than a fluid change required. However, the 'ring is a power circuit and the Omega isn't light - the brakes will get trashed. Now I can just take some OE ones and swap over but I'm more concerned about getting fade on a lap - hence why I am looking for some tougher pads.

i have red stuff in my 98 mv6 and find them very good :y

The problem I found is that with standard ones these start to brake when pedal is pressed softly so you can adjust the power and slow your car. With green stuff it’s more “brutal”. These are not as god when braking softly and suddenly stops your car. I just don’t find them comfortable and can stop my car in the same distance on both.

Vx do a set of pads that they suply to the plod and are slightly softer than std spec pads, give them a try. You can then post up your thoughts on how they performed on the RING to all the members in interwebby land. ::)

we took ours to the ring last year and use the police spec pads, they were fine no fade problems, we use 5.1 brake fluid and changed it before we went over. As you have to either pit or wait in a long line to go through the barriers the brakes will be fine, proberbly

So the Police Spec are softer? I presume so that they get up to temperature quickly. What about their overall temperature properties - are they improved at the upper range of temp, over the standard pads? If they just get upto temperature quicker but have no better fade resistance, then I can't see much point in investing in a set for my purposes.
What are they priced like compared to standard pads and do they have a specific part numebr (or do I just ask for Plod pads)?

Were they listed for an Omega? I can't find anything online. Can someone confirm whether the pads are the same across different models?

Have you received them yet? Only the part numbers that they list are all wrong (not Vauxhall fitment).

I would say top of the list is to change the brake fluid for fresh DOT 5.1 fluid, especially if you don't know what's currently in there or how old it is.
