I saw these mentioned on the post about headlight covers.
What are they?
Can they be retrofitted to my '99 minifacelift CD?
Were they are standard fit on some models (and thus available second hand) or do I have to buy new/stealer?
Cheers.
-
ditto to the above for a 96 elite :y

You already have projectors

yes

Cheers TheBoy, so why do they seem so poor?. I thought it was the crud that had appeared on the front glass making them look "murky" but even after changing them I'm still dissapointed with their performance. They seem dull and yellow somehow, or maybe I was just spoilt by Volvo?
Would a change of bulb help - any suggestions people?

yes
A 96 Elite does not have projectors as standard, but they can be retro-fitted without much difficulty.

Projectors can be put straight in to any model upto 99 without any changes and 3 bolts...dead easy...but as said...if you have the clear glass lights on your 98-99 Omega then you already have projectors (unless you have an elite or MV6 in which case you should have HID lights) I have a set here for sale if anyone is interested £100 plus delivery :)
-
Just changed my headlights, (1996 GLS) for projectors, and a set of 'xenon blue' bulbs (not HID's!!) easy upgrade, and the new bulbs give a 'whiter' light as well. worth doing. But.. be aware that the 'old' lights use H1, HI, bulbs, but the projectors use H1, H7, so make sure you get the right bulbs, especially if you 'look up the model' when buying them. I had to specify a 1998/99 model to get the right combination. If you specify 1996 you get the H1,H1 instead.
The whole lot cost me £60, lights & bulbs. As stated, easy peasy job!! 30 minutes at most. :y :y

you will be lucky to get that much chris sold a pair on ebay last night for £50 + delivery gutted :( :(
-
Hmmm...£100 delivered then...as £20 of that is delivery then that seems fair...wow £50, thats cheap!
-
how much of an improvement are projectors over standard ’97 lights.
-
Less interfering with the output of the bulbs due to the clear glass...better looking...also slightly better bulb...overall worth doing...especially if you are having problems with yellow lights as you will have a significant improvement over them! lol :)

massive improvment fella :y

Just came from 2k miles round trip on the continent, with lots of night driving. Realized how crap standard lights are and now looking to upgrade. Not interested in stile too much, but want to be able to drive 90-100mph and at the same time be able to see where I am going
-
In that case it seems like it will be money well spent

Presumably you will need right hand dip?
-
haven't got a clue about right hand dip. am based in switzerland and my car is lhd. have seen those lights brand new on german e-bay for around 100euro plus shipment.
-
I have some black projectors here LHD...anyone interested?
-
Can someone put in idiot terms what I have. (96 elite with yellow lens) What would the clear lens be? My lights are appauling! TIA :y
-
In idiot terms...the lens yellowing generally only happens on the earlier standard lights which were on all Omegas up to 1998, they have a frosted look/ribbed glass...these were replaced with the clear lens type called projectors which have H1/H7 bulbs, the fisheye lens and soon can clearly be seen through the clear glass...the elites and MV6 at this point were given HID headlights...

Projectors....

So could I change my frosted yellow messes into gleaming nice lights? :)
-
Yes mate, projectors fit straight in...easy to fit and no wiring changes...very easy :)
I have some for sale in good condition £100 delivered if you want them :)
-
Superb!!! That is what I like to hear :y :y :y Is that for the two?? I may well be up for that in the next few weeks. Thank you matey ;)
-
Chris, how much for black LHD projectors, including shipping to Switzerland
-
Yes mate, for the pair...will certainly be a great improvement over your older style yellowing ones...plus looks better too...just pm me and I can send you the details :)
-
Must agree with the others regards how much difference the projector lights make.....all my other Omega"s have had the old style lights and now with the latest car i actually got excited ( :-[ ;D) first time i drove at night as i could see the road....very novel being able to see where your going.
Wish id upgraded the other cars now..... :y
