Title: Air Conditioning Pipes
Post by: John_Clayton on 20 June 2008, 19:36:11
I need to undo the joints on my air con. pipes as I'm removing my engine. I have the so-called "quick release" ones. The Haynes manual says tools no. KM-917-1 and KM-917-1 are needed. Are they, or can I make something up to undo the joints? (I can't help thinking that standard unions would be quicker to release than the ones I've got!)

Not sure on this one I'm afraid as if I'm removing an engine its generally not having anything putting back in there so just cut the aircon pipes...

Pull back the green rubber dust cover and you should see a circlip, remove this and the joint falls apart without the special tools.

Dont do it if there is still pressure in the system!!!!!! and wear rubber gloves (mechanics gloves) even if it is empty, you dont want frostbite.
