Would someone tell me if the rear shocks from a 2001 estate omega would fit on my 1997 P reg omega elite? The shocks are self levelling which is what I am looking for.

In my experience Paul the rear shocks on estates are usually uprated for 'heavy duty' so that they can take the extra loads carried by this version of car. Therefore although compatiable for the saloons, they may create 'hard' or 'bouncy' riding'. However, I am sure the experts on Omega's specifically will advise accordingly. :y

I am looking to upgrade my rear shocks due to towing a caravan and the rear just looks to low. I believe that my car used to have electronic self levelling rear shocks due to there bieng thin cables each side of the car at the rear but don't connect bto anything as they are tied up and out of the way.

The proper self levelling dampers aren't too expensive if you can get them on Trade Club. andyc is the man to ask if you don't have Trade Club your self. Has the fuse been puled for the compressor? The previous owner of my car had done the same thing but for reasons known only to him/her self had pulled the plug from the actuall compressor under the front bumper/wing.

The fuse is still in the fuse box but I just have standard shocks on the rear. I would like to replace them with the self levelling shocks, as there is a pair on fleebay, which are off a 2001 estate I wanted to know if they would be a direct fit or not.

They are around £60 each on TC for correct ones.

I'd realised what you wanted to do. But if the fuse is still in the fuse box, what has been done to stop the compressor running to try to inflate shockers that aren't there? :y

I don't know.... but there isn't any air line pipes just a cable on each side with a plug on the end which has been tied up.
These are the shocks in question:

If you look closely there is a cable coming off of each shock and this looks like what I have on the car.

that looks like the air line m8

Ah..... Right then I think I am going to need to take a couple of pics to see what it is thats tied up on my car then. I will post some pics up tomorrow.

As t'other Andyb says, those black 'wires' are air pipes. A push fit to each shocker IIRC

It'll be what's fastened to those shown in the picture. Mine hadn't been tied up very well and some needed replacing as they'd been touching the tyre & had worn through in places.

okey-dokey..... I will check tomorrow if its not raining as I need to get this sorted pritty damn quick so I know what i need to get and cost? I will post the pics as well.
