hello everyone
can someone please advise me on a little problem with my automatic gearbox and idling.
when i drive it when cold first thing in the morning it does not change from 1st to 2nd gear for about 15 seconds it just seems to rev. vauxhall have informed me its natural due to cat converter warming up or something like that
i myself am not sure will cleaning the automatic selector switch help in any way if so whats the best way to do it.
also when started cold the revs are at the 1200 mark and sound very noisy but when warmed up it idles at 500 with a slight vibration.
i have cleaned the icv and throotle body and all other breathers.
cheers :-/

they are made that way,i think it is to warm up the cats quickly.i was always told never to rev a cold engine more than is necassary,so i put it into winter mode (snowflake button beside gearstick) for the first quarter mile. :y

I'll have you know I do my bit for the environment... I'm even fitting LPG to my Mig just for the green fuel idea ::) ::) ::) ::)
It has nothing to do with the HUGEsavings I'll make in fuel costs!!! :y :y :y

Vauxhall autos are programmed to hold on to a lower gear for much longer over first couple of hundred yards, this is purely to get heat into cats so it can go into close loop quicker.
