With many thanks to Markey Mark, I am now the owner of both the stalk with the variable wipe wheel, and the relay required to make it work....
However I've just noticed that this stalk also has the S & R buttons to reset the MID data on the older cars .. as I have the CID my present wipers stalk doesn't have those switches...
The question is, before I start dismantling things, will this wiper stalk still fit/work if I just ignore the S & R bits, it looks as though they are on a seprate plug which I plan to just tuck out of the way .........
TIA

Depending on the age of the car and your new stalk, the connectors may not be interchangeable.
From memory, the older stalk has a 5 pin connector, 3 for ground, S & R.
2 for the variable resistor.
My 03 2.6 has a 4 pin connector, only for S & R. The variable resistor has to be in series with pin 9 on the main plug.
I found it fairly straightforward to remove the pins and swap over the shells.
I have some picture and diagrams if it helps.

MMM the "replacement" stalk has a 5 pin connector, I've no idea what the existing one has, probably no connector at all as it has no wheel or S & R buttons.
Might not be quite as easy a conversion as I thought .. :(
