Try Markey Mark, he is/was breaking a 2.2.

Thanks
I will get in touch with him

If its just the valves then buy some new off ebay.....
these are the right type

Why is this needed, cambelt failure?
-
Water pump faliure
Had timing belt replaced but mechanic thinks i've bent some valves as car is mis-firing :-(
-
Well it needs a compression test first then!.
Was the cambelt timing out following the pump failure?
-
Had compression test
shows low compression on 2 cylinders.
The water pump went whilst driving although the car did not cut off.
The timing belt did not come off but may have jumped I guess.
Timing belt and water pump tensioners replaced but car shaking afterwards.

The mechanic should have clocked the timing before repair to ascertain the risk of valve damage......
If the valves are bent then the compression would be pretty much zero on the affected cylinders.
-
hmmm....
the compression is certainly not 0 on any of the cylinders.
lowest I had was 46 on 1 cylinder.
Had coil pack replaced but still had mis-firing.
Do you think i'd be wasting my time replacing valves?
-
Well 46 psi (assuming that is what it is) is about 3 bar which is pretty low.
What state is the head in, still fitted?
Cam timing is now ok?
Was the compression test being carried out with the throttle fully open (I doubt it somehow on the 2.2 drive by wire) if it wasn't then it could be some bent inlets.
-
Head still fitted.
Timing was ok pre pump faliure
Went to a professional guy to test compression dont know if he had throttle open.
I guess I will have to take head off and inspect valves, engine only done 51k FSH thats worst thing.
Its a 2.2 cdi 2001 auto
thanks mate

cam timing is ok now, had it checked, had a retired mechanic look at it today he seems to think its not the inlet valves as there is no knocking sounds
but I guess only way I will find out is if I strip head.
Already had the coil pack replaced that pretty much rules most things out :'(

When valves are bent you dont get a knocking noise.....

I've been fooled by the old timer then!
Anyway I can confirm valves bent without openeing up head?
Ok thanks for your input, much appreciated, I'll have the head opened and looked at, will let you know what I find.
Thanks once more,
Shoky

Are you removing the head?
It sounds to me like to suspect quality mechanics have already looked at it!
Once the head is off, it may well be obvious that thr valves are bent but if not then fill the combustion chambers with parrafin and leave for an hour or so......then check to for the parrafin leaking past the valve seats
-
I will be removing the head tomorrow hopefully
make that a 3rd suspect mechanic!
I'll try it see what I find.
Thanks mate

Where are you?
Might be somebody close by who could offer an opinion
