Title: Playing with video files
Post by: Martin_1962 on 24 October 2007, 19:22:28
Just checking them after a 30 hours of encoding.

1 hour 45 minute holiday video, encoded at different ways.

Dumped a BMP at a time code used 1 frame on for DV, DV is best looking, 9.2 CBR looks reasonably good, VBR with maximum of 8000 not as good.

You can see a few macro blocks on the MPEGs and the VBR one were more obvious.

I'm going to do a VBR with higher maximum rate later and also check the sharpening settings.

What was funny was that a grab of DVed Beta in the same directory looked very clean, and did not show its age! :o :y

Looks like time to buy more DL DVDs

Put it through the flash convertor I use for streaming from this site - that will drop some frames and add some blocks!

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

It is surprising how noisy MPEG2 is even with high bit rates - motion hides it.

Computer fair on Sunday and I'll get some dual layers
