Title: Thinking about getting a chip for my 2.2 dti
Post by: 2.2dti on 09 February 2007, 09:55:40
Hi All,

I am thinking about getting my new 2.2dt chipped...has anyone had this done or used one of those diesel tuning boxes on a 2.2dti on here....does anyone on the forum do remaps??

Any help and advice greatly appreciated.  8-)

You can get a chip or a tuning box....speak to Mike at Mtek Performance...

I have driven a Vectra with one fitted and it did drive better...

I use a box and it makes a lot of difference to the driveability.

I would only advise against a re-map if you have a warranty on the vehicle, at least the box can be removed pretty quickly if needed.

Worth speaking to your insurance company though to make sure they cannot back down on any claims because of the upgrade, it only cost me about £20 extra so well worth the peace of mind.

We provide many options.

The map for the 2.2DTI cannot be downloaded, only replaced, so a tuning box would be best if you ever want to set it back to standard at any point.

I have a customer who had a new map uploaded to his 2.0 DTI Vectra.  It now shuts down his sister in laws 170bhp+ Toyota Celica :D

mate of myn always had diesels for that very reason. Usually about 500 sobs if memory serves. Thing is it gives better economy AND better performance usually. Worth it defo.
Hope helps.

For a 2.5TD they can be done relatively easily (if you are lucky) - do a search and there are a few threads here with all the info you will need.  :y

Chipping a 2.5 TD will mean you really need an upgraded AR35 gearbox or it will blow it pretty quickly due to the increased torque...not sure if this is the same for the 2.2??
