Picwed up the 'new' cd 2.0 auto estate today. Lots of bits to sort.... but seem to be a bit a a din from the rear axle. seems to irritate it when tyrning left. Quite an obrrusive noise on the trip home.... any ideas folks :-?
-
If it changes when going round corners, I'd guess at a wheel bearing (or a darned noisy tyre)...
-
Thats what i thought but it is only present 40-60 and then 80-100 Makes like a droning noise as a pose to a metal noise. ?? Not anything that I have heard before. Weather it is an engine prop I do not know but when this drone is present there does seem to be a lack of power at slower speeds... but then I do not know how the 2.0 auto is meant to drive.
:-/

Also prehaps I did not explain very well... it is not so much cornering too the left but any even small movement of the wheel to the left?
-
A 2.0 Auto isn't a ball of fire - it's the slowest of the marque!
One quick way to eliminate the tyre theory -swap the two back ones over (unless they're directional...)
The speeds you mention do point to a tyre issue, though, as that works out at about the resonant frequency of them.. (bad choice of words, but can't think of the balance-related one.)

Will give it a go then matey! Will chrisen the new spanners tommorow afternoon. Just found it to be very very loud thats all. It hurts your ears in a kind of way. Prehaps I have been spoilt by my elite!

Have had a bit of a look... quite unuccesful as a did not have a clue what I wa doing!! noticed a bit of play in rear right.
also two front tyres bald as bald on the inside only :(
Any pointers on where to go now? I cant stand this noise ;D

A bit of play says wheel bearing to me - but I think the wheel alignment/susoension needs checking out as well.
Wheel bearings can make an unholy noise even with minimal play, but you should be able to hear it (even a little) when turning the wheel by hand.
