I Have a small problem with the self levelling suspension, upon starting the car about 30 seconds after starting the pump springs into action for the suspension to raise however there is a load of noise and not alot of action, the car is sitting low, it looks good and people pay a fortune to lower cars to look like this,, however, today i have noticed a patch of wet fluid on the ground directly underneath the pump, my question is if i cure the leak how do you replace the lost fluid as i cant see a bottle anywhere for it, and secondly if the pump is knackered can they be refurbed or is it a new unit needed ??? and has anyone got any ideas on cost ... or do i need to visit the bank for a re-mortgage !!
It sounds like a fishtank air pump at the minute with the hose to the airstone disconnected,,, , so blowing everywhere, if that makes sense...
Any help appreciated

I thought they were air shocks, and it was an air pump. Mine sounds like a mini tyre compressor.

Yes, its just compressed air, so theres nothing to leak from it!

ok so with a bit of luck the fluid patch is from the previous car in the layby, and possibly the air hose has come off the compressor unit,, causing it to sound odd !!

most compressed air systems will generate water after time, maybe the liquid is just water from the system, have to bleed my garage compressor now and then. Have heard there is not much to go wrong with sl susp. so guess it wont cost the earth.

My old Elite use to spring into life about 20 seconds after i had fired the engine up, and you wouldn't see a change in the ride height of the car, although it wasn't sat that low.
If it is low on the back have the shocks themselves gone?
