Title: oil coolant
Post by: Terry_Seyforth on 03 July 2008, 13:09:03
Hi my car has been showing signs of oil in the water, just yesturday I think the seals have given out, the panel was telling me to check oil, well thats because now its all in the water system, overflowing the top up bottle. My question is, does this mean I need to replace the whole oil coolant body or could it be just the gasket/seals. I have looked on ebay and they are selling vauxhall new coolants for £100 inc postage, I was thinking of doing this myself, not to sure though, have seen the chap with the pictures and details on here how to dismantle. I also will have to flush the system as it is full of oil. There is a sealing liquid called K-seal, is it to late for this  ;D
any advice would be appreciated.
he also mentioned replacing the thermastat, is this nessacary ? :'(

Oil cooler has failed mostly likely, and will need to be replaced.

the new oil cooler you mention isnt any cheaper than going direct to vx, you're better off doing that than ebay, at least you know its genuine part and can take it back if you needed to.

im assuming you have a v6 so this might help you out... a guide i did covering Oil Cooler Replacement Parts and Part Numbers V6:

If your handy with the tools then its fairly straight forward but have you got all the tools you`ll need as by :y the time you`ve brought them its cheaper to pay the £160.
