Post by: dunkymunky on 08 July 2008, 21:22:33
is it possible to attach a roof rack to the omega saloons? If so can anyone recommend one - it will be used for transporting up to 4 kayaks around the place

I have roofbars that you can remove they are Thule

http://www.thule.com/default____5232.aspx

I think in the handbook max weight on the roof is 100kg

I have a set of genuine Vauxhall roof bars. They are very good quality and have a key lock on each clamp where they sit on the locating holes in the roof above each door.Sorry I cannot find part number as have had them for about 5 years, they weren,t cheap when I bought them (think about £80=00) but have been worth it so might be worth asking dealer,or maybe old stock now at reduced price !!!They have a maximum load of 50kg per bar.

There are loads on fleabay .. type "roof bars omega" as the search.

Look for Thule, Halfords, Mont Blanc or Paddy Hopkirk .. all good makes.

ALWAYS read the description .. many sold are for estates only, ensure you get the saloon ones, and check the load capacity .. there are a lot of max 75 kgs out there ..look for the 100 kg variants.

cheers guys...i jsut wanted to check as it doesnt look like the omeage has the 'grooves' in the roof like my current ibiza does. load weight isnt an issue as i play polo so the boats are only about 10-15kgs each
