Title: sat nav mount

i have a tomtom but i dont want to use the sucker, and see that there are dashmounts such as the brodit proclip availiable.

are the two locations any good in the mig?  vent & by hazard switch

or is there another alternative out there?

I have an alternative - I just pop it between the top of the dash and the windscreen.   Not so brilliant when you need the power cord in, but fine otherwise.

Yes mate, The sucker seems to be the most practical option although it scares the crap out of me if it falls off the windscreen! make sure the sucker is properly secured to a CLEAN windscreen. :y

if you sucker it so that the unit is resting on the dash, the sucker isnt taking the whole weight and so is alot less likely to fall off

I bought a sucker cup off ebay and have stuck it to the flat part of the dash just above the airvents.Then have used the small Tomtom mount and use the cup as the suction Works a treat and you can run the power cable down inside the air vent so its very tidy.It has never become unstuck from suction and is center of dash so visibility good and not too bad with glare.

may be of no help this but only you can decide. I have tom tom on phone, not releven,but the clamp i used to hold the phone may be tho, 15 quid from halfords it had a "clamp" for the phone which was removable and looked easy to modify(for your tomtom). And on the other end a sucker for glass BUT it also had plastic puck to fix, in my case, to the under side of the dash bit that sticks out over the clocks and info display. You can then bend the flexible arm to hold your device so it sits right next to the info display. Its not in the screen area blocking your view of oncoming bikes, is not reflected in the windscreen to distract you and is as out of the sun as its possible to get. You dont have to reach forward out of the chair to programe it, while ducking the run visor and its just above the lighter socket so no cable along the dash. Only problem, since i moved the puck a bit to a slightly better location, is on hot days the bloody thing keeps falling off and hiding under the pedals. Cant find sticky pads as good as the originals that will take the heat in a hot car.
